How much is my personal injury claim worth?

Accident injury victims are entitled to receive compensation for their losses, which are called legal damages. These damages are generally categorized as economic damages, which compensate a victim for specific dollar losses such as unpaid medical bills, property damage, loss of income, and financial opportunity.

In addition, some legal damages are non-economic damages, which include such losses as pain and suffering, temporary or permanent disability, loss of consortium and loss of enjoyment of life.

Finally, while they are not often awarded, there are punitive damages which are designed to punish those whose conduct was beyond negligent and involved malice or willful, wanton, and reckless disregard for the safety of others.

How are personal injury lawsuits resolved?

Most personally injury lawsuits in Ohio are resolved without a trial. Often, they are resolved through detailed negotiations with the insurance company. There are a number of factors that insurance companies consider when resolving these claims aside from the individual facts of the case. Insurance carries must respect the experience and talents of your attorneys in order to reach a favorable settlement. Insurance companies know our attorneys will aggressively pursue your case, including a jury trial if necessary. We utilize our negotiating skills to obtain the best results in the most expeditious manner. If a voluntary settlement on terms that are fair to our client is not obtainable, we will aggressively pursue your case in court.
